Terrible! Both crowns done had to be redone. First crown broke
and cement was left at the gum line. Not only did crown break
but I had additional pain in gum from cement left there. Dr.
Sowter stated he would have gotten an "F" if this had happenened
in dental school. I had to remind Dr. Sowter to wear his
high powered dental eyewear-since he did not see the cement.
After the first crown broke, I left Dr. Sowter as a dentist if you could call
him that. Now, I find a second crown he made broke.
Stay away!!

I have been going to Dr. Bill Sowter off and on for 20 yrs. The "off" period was only because I moved from the area. I now drive an hour just to see him. After going to several dentists and experiencing first-hand other's work, I know how good he is. Dr. Bill makes recomendations that are needed and does not try to 'sale' services that are not required. He tries to make sure you are comfortable during the procedures.
About Hygienist: Friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, and competent. They do not make your mouth sore

Dr Sowter does not really give a care about his patients. All he cares about is the money he can make off of them. He does not fully disclose every treatment option as I have now found out. He only tells you what makes him the most money. He does great work I give him that. But you better get a second opinion for any treatment options he gives you. He does not fully tell you everything.

Dr. Sowter is one of the best dentists I have ever been to and I would not go to another after going to his office. The staff as well as the doctor have made me feel very comfortable and they all are very professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Great dentist; great staff. Have moved to DC but still come back to NC when I need to see a dentist.

EXCELLENT...I am terrified of dentist and he and his staff really go out their way to make me comfortable.

Dr Sowter is a dentist in the old-fashioned sense -- He knows/does dentistry rather than rely on flashy gimmicks which drive up the fees -- He is polite, discusses treatment options and gentle with the patient. Once I called him about a dental emergency on a weekend and he returned the call within an hour.
He has agreed to file bills with insurance rather than expecting patient to pay first and wrestle with insurance company for reimbursement -- His office fees (routine care, xrays, fillings, crowns, etc) fall within the usual and customary charges paid by the insurance company for covered procedures. Office tries to accommodate emergency appointments.
About Hygienist: Hygienists in his office are all friendly, gentle, polite and relaxed. The hygienists have little reward toys for children and keep children's books and magazines for children during the appointment.
